Responsible Care

Responsible Care (RC) is a chemical industry initiative that encourages companies to demonstrate their commitment to improving all aspects of performance related to health, safety, and environmental protection.

The Responsible Care Management System includes global directives, standards, and procedures for environmental protection, health, and safety (EHS) throughout the value chain.

The International Council of Chemical Associations (ICC) evaluates member industries for the Responsible Care logo based on seven codes of management practice:

• Product stewardship code
• Process safety code
• Employee health & safety code
• Pollution prevention code
• Emergency response and communication code
• Distribution code
• Security and vulnerability code (voluntary)
